Key point. Some queries in Search Console read like prompts written for an AI assistant rather than searches typed by a person. This tool sorts your query export into prompt-shaped queries, question-shaped queries from people, and the rest, and shows how much of your impressions each group brings. Nothing leaves your browser.
Search Console prompt query finder
Find the prompt-shaped queries in your Search Console data
Export the Queries table from Google Search Console (Performance > Search results > Export > CSV) and load Queries.csv below, or paste its rows. Nothing leaves your browser.
| Query | Clicks | Impressions | Position | Why |
|---|
Prompt-shaped: 12 or more words, starts with % or + or a tracker id such as ai37894. These rows read like prompts rather than searches people type, so report them on their own line before you judge click-through rate. Question-shaped: a people query that starts with a question word; good material for headings and FAQs.
What counts as a prompt-shaped query?
The tool uses the same rules as our own weekly Search Console report. A query is prompt-shaped when it has 12 or more words, starts with % or +, or is a tracker id such as ai37894. These rows can carry many impressions and few clicks, so we set them apart before we read click-through rate.
What are question-shaped queries good for?
They are questions people typed, starting with words such as what, how, which or should. Each one is a candidate heading or FAQ: write the question as a heading on the page that should answer it, and answer it in the first sentence below.
How do I export my queries from Search Console?
Open Performance, then Search results, choose a date range, and select Export, then Download CSV. Open the downloaded folder and load Queries.csv here. You can also paste the rows from the Queries table.
FAQ
Does the tool upload my Search Console data?
No. The file is read in your browser and sorted there. Nothing is uploaded.
Should I remove prompt-shaped queries from my reports?
Keep them, but report them on their own line. Mixing them with people's searches makes click-through rate look worse than it is.
Can I download the sorted list?
Yes. Download every row as a CSV with its group and the reason it was placed there.
